A Proposal to Review Terms of Civil Protection in Portugal
Resumo
Este projeto final de licenciatura é uma proposta de revisão do “Glossário de Proteção Civil” de 2009, este último elaborado pela Autoridade Nacional de Emergência e Proteção Civil e que ainda se encontra em vigor.
A linguagem utilizada no âmbito da proteção civil deve ser única para todos os agentes e, como tal, achámos que seria pertinente e útil apresentar uma proposta de atualização deste glossário, considerando o período temporal desde a sua aprovação e a integração de novas disciplinas e saberes. O nosso intuito, na realização deste trabalho, foi de atingir quatro domínios, nomeadamente, nos âmbitos académico, institucional, social e de visão política.
O trabalho apresentado descreve o percurso realizado desde a escolha do tema sintetizando todas as alterações efetuadas, desde a sua nova estrutura à revisão de termos, e respetiva fundamentação. Adicionalmente, são feitas comparações entre o glossário em vigor com o proposto, este último exibido no anexo I do presente trabalho, sendo parte integrante do mesmo.
A área de proteção civil é muito abrangente, e acreditamos que esta revisão poderá despertar o interesse por parte das entidades competentes, com vista a uma futura validação científica das sugestões que apresentamos no presente trabalho, bem como de outros termos que possam surgir, tanto de fontes nacionais ou internacionais.

Abstract
This final degree project is a proposal to review the document “Glossário de Proteção Civil” of 2009, which was made by Autoridade Nacional de Emergência e Proteção Civil and is still in use.
The language used in the scope of civil protection should be unique for all agents and, as such, we felt that it would be pertinent and useful to present a proposal in order to update this glossary, considering the time from its approval and the integration of new disciplines and knowledge. Our aim in the accomplishment of this project, was to reach 4 domains, namely, in the academic, institutional, social spheres and political view.
The paper presented describes the course taken since the choice of the theme, summarizing all the changes made, from its new structure to the revision of terms, and its reasoning. In addition, we compare the glossary from Autoridade Nacional de Emergência e Proteção Civil with the proposed glossary, this last one attached to the present project, being an integral part of it.
The area of civil protection is very broad, and we believe that this review may awaken the interest of the competent entities, with the intent of a future scientific validation of the suggestions presented in this paper, as well as other terms that may emerge, both from national or international sources.
